Internship - Engineering Administrator (Location: Cape Town, South Africa)

Swire Renewable Energy is looking for Engineering Administrator Intern in the Blade Department.

Role overview:

The intern provides administrative and technical support to the Blade Department, assisting with activities related to blade inspection, maintenance, and reporting. This role serves as a first-line review function for technician reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.  Engage with technicians to correct errors.  Maintain accurate records and documentation within company systems.

 

The position is designed for engineering students or recent graduates who are seeking practical experience in blade technology, engineering operations, and performance optimization within a professional environment.

  

What you'll be doing:

  • Learn and understand basic blade repair techniques to be able to assess quality of works and review inspection and repair reports.

  • Learn about chemicals and materials used in rotor blade repair to be able to assess whether works are carried out according to specifications.

  • Learn basics of project reparation to be able to set up projects before they commence - including administration and preparing BOM (bill of materials).

  • Learn about reporting tools used, to be able to create repair and inspection reports where necessary and assist technicians as needed.

  • Learn about internal programs used to be able to provide admin support to operations and engineering team (SharePoint, SmartSheet, Bladetuul, Fluix, etc.)

  • Provide first-line review of reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to required standards before escalation or final approval.

  • Engage directly with technicians to clarify findings, resolve discrepancies, and address report quality issues.

  • Contribute to process improvement and problem-solving initiatives.

  • Maintain engineering documentation and project records.

Requirements for this position:

  • Diploma/Degree in mechanical/electrical/chemical engineering

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office application

  • Fluent in English both written and verbal

  • Must live in Cape Town, South Africa
